They went off around Finneytown. I started to record, but then it got very windy and our power went out. We’re in the basement right now.

Heard several sirens from my apartment near Highland Heights - not sure if they were Anderson Township's from across the river or Campbell County's.

I'm almost certain that the T-128 at Clough and 8 Mile failed to sound this time. I didn't hear it either time they went off, and I live less than 300 yards away, so it should've been ear-splitting. Anyway, I saw a whole lot of power flashes down in Ky from Anderson. We'll see if they confirm anything. Anderson was really splitting hairs between the warning near Mariemont and the warning near Alexandria... I was watching the storms though and they really took off once they got close to Cincinnati. I wonder if this event could be classified as a Derecho. It produced 70 MPH wind gusts all the way back in Illinois and is just dying out in West Virginia. It's pretty uncommon for Derechos to occur in the Ohio Valley this time of the year though... that's generally a summertime thing.

While searching in my library's archives, I found this newspaper from 1976 mentioning the Federal Signal 2t22's that used to be in Forest Park!

What I find interesting is that one resident said "It is 22 sirens on one pole." They are likely referring to the cones.

If people can find something to complain about, they'll complain about it. I wonder how they'd feel if the siren was discontinued for its use of rescue and fire calls, and their house burnt up and nobody came because the radio system was down? I bet they'd be singing a different song then...

"22 sirens on one pole" is like saying that a house with 22 air vents is a house with 22 HVAC units.
Architecture preservationist. I enjoy obscure history and mapping things, and grew up around sirens. Not planning to own one.

That’s very interesting! I wonder how many sirens in Hamilton County’s system were also used for local fire calls at the same time. BTW, that was Forest Park’s only 2T22. Their other siren at the time was an STH-10 at Kenn & Waycross. Both were replaced with 2001-SRNBs around 2004.

I remember there being a Thunderbolt at the JcPenny on Colerain. There was also a video on YouTube of it going off in 2005.

That was at Northgate Mall specifically, which is sadly a dying mall. The videos of the audio recordings with the pictures are still on YouTube.

Its a shame to see sirens as well as malls bite the dust.
