According to HCEMA’s website, they will activate if a tornado is spotted without a warning.
That seems like a really great idea, especially since the NWS doesn't always get on issuing warning right away, we had a warning 15 minutes after a TOR touched down here a few years back, all of our sirens sounded off without the warning.

Butler County tested their sirens this morning at 9:50 AM. They used the attack signal for 3 min. I missed the chance to get a video. I was in Middletown and could hear them on the Miami University campus.

Middletown always tests in attack, so it could have just been Middletown that activated in attack.

Just thinking about Butler County, I believe Fairfield and/or West Chester used to test in attack, but I’m not sure about now. Monroe used to activate the 612s in attack/wail, but the new 508s are now activated in alert.

Found this old gem on top of the Harrison Fire Department in Harrison, Ohio. This siren is likely inactive due to a T-128 located down the street. This is an old Fedelcode siren, possibly a model 5.

That was actually part of the system. Apparently, it remained active for a while after the T-128s were installed, but I have no idea about now.

As of right now, (as far as I know), Middletown is the only city in Butler County that tests in attack anymore. Now if HAMILTON did it, that would be AWESOME

Fairfield does Attack as well if I recall correctly. Someone got a video of their system about a year ago, and they did attack.

This article from the Wilmington Ohio NWS gives an interesting summary of the tornado outbreak on April 3-4, 1974. According to this, the first time that Hamilton County ever activated its sirens for a tornado warning was for the Sayler Park tornado.
