Hand crank Secomak Type 447 drivetrain

I have a couple questions:

1. Can i spray down the gears with cold galvanizing compound to keep them from oxidizing any further?

2. If the gears do break, can i send the broken samples to a machine shop and have them cut new gears but with a silenced drivetrain. I want to get the gears as quiet as possible.

3. The finger guard is crumbling away at the bottom ties. Whats the best solution?

I think you can spray metal-protection compounds on there. Just do each gear separately.

I think you could send the gears to a machine shop. They'll try to put the teeth at a diagonal angle for noise reduction.

I don't know how to solve your third question.

that leave the teeth attatched to the rotor. what do they do about that?

Are you saying that the spray will attach the teeth to the rotor, or putting the teeth diagonally?

no, spraying the gears for a non corrosive layer. thats all. but i mean how to make the gear teeth on the rod attatched to the rotor match the spur gears.

I don't know what the gear gear system looks like; I can't make a reasonable conclusion.

Dont spray the gears with cold galvanizing compound, that will not help. You need to regrease them with a gearbox grease that is safe for aluminum (one free of Molybdenum Disulfide).

Having new helical gears made at a machine shop would be $$$$$$$, way more than the cost of a new siren, or even 3-4 new sirens.

A good high-pressure grease will make the 447 as quiet as it can get, which is not Carter quiet.
