That thing doesn't look even remotely Federal Signal made. It would help to be able to see a front view of one of the horns, but that's not going to happen since it was removed. Either way, an interesting siren to say the least. I'd love to find out more about it.

If I had to guess, I'd say that the "2nd-generation" 550 probably was very similar to the 1st gen and the only difference is that they added supports to the projectors to keep them from flapping around, kind of like what some of the later 500's had before they switched to the long projector design. The 550 wasn't produced as long as the 500 (very few communities wanted one because they were difficult and impractical to install) and so I highly doubt that if the 2nd gen version is real it had the long projectors.
I have an unhealthy obsession with mini sirens.
