Denton State School Sirens

Sat Jul 21, 2018 8:13 am

So this is mainly for my fellow DFW siren enthusiasts. Im sure you all are aware of the 3T22 at the Denton State School, and you might also be aware that there is a second inactive 3T22 also in the DSS. the active one appears to have an earlier GE motor on it? and im not sure about the inactive one but im sure its the same as the active one. basically this thread can be a place for us to put all of our information about these two strange privately owned sirens surrounded by nothing but modern sirens for miles. i just think its quite strange to me to have 2 sirens very close to each other and why do they even have them is still a mystery to me.
My info i have so far:
- sounds in alert and fast wail.
- pretty sure its manually controlled because of the odd timing.
- early GE motors?
- 3 phase.
- 1st wed at 12.
- ive heard they sound for tornadoes, and they may do hi lo for an intruder (idk about that one)
- other siren is either inactive or the one siren ive gone to twice always just over powers it.
- the DSS started construction started 1959, and was completed 1960

anyways, if you can give me any information you have about these beasts, let me know!
