Carters of Burnley, Secomak Limited Minimite sirens

Wed Jul 23, 2014 1:06 am

Here is my newest haul six Carter Minimites & and one rebranded Secomak Limited Minimite. They are all 8 port single tones. The Carters are from the 1970s, 1980s . The Secomak is from 1992 or 1993 I am guessing since it has a warranty sticker for the 6th of July 1994. Two are 6 volt, two are 50 volt & three are 12 volt DC. These resembles the big Carters so much from the rotor & stator designs! I tested one of the 6 volt ones on 3 volts & it sounded fantastic. Yeah so I have gone from one siren to a collection of eight!

Well, I have to post this again.

Wow, that is awesome, you did a good job. It didn't take long to go from no sirens to having 8!

WOW! I'm speechless! Where did you get them? I've got a cigar-smelling 12v MINIMITE and I've tried, tried to find a second for ages! (however i sincerly doubt that they are up for grabs though. 'Tis a shame... for me, that is.)

"Taco" is allegedly a company Carters of Burnley bought out according to this:

I second the question on where to find one, despite the fact I am nowhere near the commonwealth. They look like pretty nifty little things.

To add to that, I think that Taco Works Ltd. made the plastics themselves. (the siren rotor, stator, and housing.) They are quite hard to find outside Europe, though, and yes, they ARE very nifty and loud! Mine can be heard a mile or two away!
