I have been looking for information on several Japanese sites, and I wanted to write some information that I think has not yet been talked about in this forum. Excuse me if some of the information is already on the forum

Yamaha completed the development of the 1st generation hamamatsu musical siren in July 1950 and in December 1951 began operation with a 12-note scale. In 1957, the scale was improved to 14 notes, which is more than usual

The 2nd gen Hamamatsu music siren had maintenance every 2 to 3 times per year with the replacement of cylinders and tubes that belonged to the air piston part

In Innovation Road building in the actual Yamaha HQ there is a reference of the music siren in the family tree

For Yawatahama site: "Nankai Broadcasting Sound and Lighting Co., Ltd." (* Nankai Broadcasting related company), is currently performing maintenance and repair work. Since there are concerns about breakdowns in the future, the company has signed a maintenance contract with Yawatahama City twice a year to maintain its operation. This company is probably repairing the Uwajima Castle music siren.

The list of songs that Yamaha offered for the sale of its 2nd gen of sirens were: "Morning", "Countryside", "Humoresque", "Hanyu's Inn", "Bodhi Tree", "Wild Rose", "Annie Laurie", "Home", "Arabesque", "Song of the Four Seasons", "Spring Breeze", "Amaryllis", "Memories of Summer", "I am a Child of the Sea", "I Found a Little Autumn", "Home Road", "Brahms's Lullaby", "Moonlight", "Schubert's Lullaby", "Traumerei", "Lullaby of the Chugoku Region", "Home in the Range", "Trumpet in the Night Sky", "Red Dragonfly", "Hometown Sky", "Kimigayo", and "The Light of the Fireflies" were listed. Naturally, the number of songs that can be played is limited by the scale installed, so there were many places where songs that did not fall under this category were played.

Also, I think I see that in Tenri Pool the second siren seems to be cubic in shape and looks stacked by a grille in the top, like the music siren in Hamamatsu, and probably has 24 notes. Obviously it's just speculation of mine and it may not be true

How i said, excuse me if some of the information is already on the forum, i´m still new to this.

And here's a link to a photo on Google Maps that shows the music siren from Uwajima Castle apparently being repaired, as there are ladders and other things at the base. It also seems that this siren has a greenish color

Interesting information. You are correct on your observation of the second siren in Tenri, it's a wider 24-note model.
For a more accurate translation, I'll add some common songs in both Japanese and English.
家路 = Home Road (Dvorak's From The New World - Largo)
埴生の宿 = Home! Sweet Home!/Bishop (by Sir Henry Bishop)
菩提樹 = Der Lindenbaum/The Linden Tree (by Schubert)
野ばら = Wild Rose/Heidenroslein (by Goethe)
峠の我が家 = Home on the Range/My Western Home (the American classic!)
蛍の光 = Glow of the Fireflies/Auld Lang Syne (same melody, slightly different meaning with Japanese version)
この道 = This Road (well-known Japanese song)
春の小川 = Spring Stream (Japanese nursery rhyme)
靴が鳴る = Shoes Ring (another Japanese nursery rhyme)
How i said, excuse me if some of the information is already on the forum, i´m still new to this.
We all start out somewhere, be it with mistakes or not. Welcome to ARS, we hope you enjoy your stay. All factual info is appreciated here, and I look forward to hearing from you further.

For anyone wondering what happened to the Uwajima music siren, it's still there not covered up, but I don't know if it's active or not still. On this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2C6lrhm ... apancastle

Probably someone has watched this so sorry if I am late.

Big finds came out last night. ModifiedCyclone125 located a few articles about the Beppu City Library music siren, which we now know is the old city hall building. It was installed around or before March of 1957, and supposedly went inactive between 1977-1979 in favor of a "music chime", presumably Bosai Musen. When it was active, it played the songs "Sakura Sakura" at 7 AM, "Linden Tree" at noon, and "Moon over the Ruined Castle" at 9 PM. I wonder why it was a 12 note instead of a 10 note though?

He also uncovered another supposed music siren location, installed in 1959. Nishibeppu Hospital and formerly Ishigakibara Hospital, about 2 miles northwest of Beppu City Library, supposedly had a music siren that played "Waves of the Danube" at 7AM, Song of the Seashore at 9 AM, Home Road at noon, Solveig's Song at 2 PM, "The Coconut Shell" at 3PM, and Schubert's Serenade at 6 PM. As far as I'm aware, the Disaster Prevention Broadcast system in Japan started after the 1964 Niigata earthquake, which means this location may indeed be a Yamaha music siren as it was installed prior to that.

All of the above information and more can be found online at the Beppu City Digital Archives, here: https://beppucity-digitalarchives.jp

Hello all again,
The intakes for the choppers have been located on the 2nd generation music sirens.
I somehow didn't notice it, but thanks to one of my friends for pointing it out:
Image
Under each chopper's stand is a hole, seemingly an air intake.
And somehow again, as I look back at Evan's original post, I missed that this information was in Yamaha's official patent for the music siren in the form of an arrow running into the chopper. Thanks to my friend (who doesn't use this forum sadly) for pointing this out to me.
