Wisconsin Siren Testing

Fri Dec 30, 2011 10:38 pm

I am going up to Wisconsin in June, and I'm planning to record many sirens there. When do Medford, Tomahawk, and Wausau test their sirens? I will also record one of Kenosha's P-50s, and go up to Merrill to see the new T-128s if they're there.

If you make it out to Praire Du Sac, they test their sirens everyday at noon (except sunday). They have an Allertor, 10V2T, and a 10/15 Decot.

Wausau tests every Monday between April and November at 1:15 sharp (This would include June), and every first Monday between November and April at 1:15 sharp. Here is a list of locations for you too : http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... 7bed4fcf6b Your best bet would to be to record one of rarer ones as they aren't going to be around much longer.

Waukesha Test every Friday at 10.00am short Alert about 15 to 30 secs

Milwaukee County test 2nd Wednesday at noon If it is Clear no clouds no wind Usually in alert 1 minute and attack 1.5 minutes

Dane county first Wednesday of the Month in 3 minutes alert after 12,00 noon it can be anytime after noon up to 30 minutes but usually between 3 and 7 minutes this is done so that all the noon soundings are done. they do not test in Dec Jan & Feb.

Sauk County Test the First Wednesday in 3 alert for 3 minutes of the Month all year long is like Dane county after high noon but has been as late as 40 minutes
Except Reedsburg Reedsburg is not on sauk county wide system they have there own and test the 1st Wednesday of the month after the noon 500S sounding.

Jefferson County test the 1st Wednesday of the month usually 3 minutes at 11.00am it is not a system wide so most towns in Jefferson county do it at 11,00am

Delavan in Walworth county does not test sirens monthly they test all there sirens 5 STH's 2 5's and a Decot every day at 12.00noon at exactly 2 secs after high noon the decot sounds for 8 secs and the other sirens for 2 secs.

I've personally never heard it go past 12:05, but otherwise yes. Also, Sun Prairie, WI is not on the Dane County system. Not sure when they test, but you'd only be missing 2001s.

Is the T-135 a P-50 or a T-135DC?

It's an AC model. There is a new T-135(-132 :D) in Madison along US 151 at the Nelson Crossing exit, visible from I-39/90/94.
