WSS to install 37 FS 2001-130s in St Paul by Spring...

Fri Mar 16, 2012 4:56 am

Just saw this on the news tonight. Looks like the 60 year old system in St. Paul, MN will be replaced by 2001-130s within the next month or two. West Shore's trucks are on-site to do the siren upgrade.

What kind of sirens are in the existing system?

According to Rob Mast's map, St. Paul has Thunderbolts, Thunderbeams, Sth-10, and 2001's.

Yep! Some real classics are coming down. Sad, but it is truly inevitable.

I emailed the EM already and he said, "The city is currently evaluating this aspect"

...So we'll see! Hopefully he remembers me if they do scrap them.

Speaking of this, has Minneapolis said any more about whether they still plan to do the same with their system in the near future? I've heard talk before about upgrading (replacing) their system sometime soon, but that was a while ago now.

I'm keeping my eyes/ears popped. About a month and a half ago, I talked to Minneapois' EM director on the phone and he said to "watch for the announcement." Supposedly this year most of the Minneapolis Thunderbolts will be replaced.
