Federal Signal Model 3 in Germany?

Tue May 22, 2012 5:40 pm

Hi!

2 weeks ago, a frind of mine found a wiered looking siren in a small German town. He took a photo of it, a week later, he filmed the test of the siren.

Now some guys think, it could be a FS Model 3 on 50Hz (standard in Europe) and i'll ask you, if that could be one.

Since there are no FS sirens in Germany it would be quite interesting, how that thing came there (there might is a 2T22 on a military base, but he's not sure). Did FS ship these to Europe?

Thanks in Advance!

It does kinda look like one, but I think a Model 3 has its bottom louver a little bit lower. Could this be the first recording of one of those mystery models that were popular across LA at one point? Very interesting! And I do remember reading in an advert that Federal did ship sirens over to Europe during the world wars.

That's a model 3 without a doubt.

It is definitely a 12 port siren on 50 Hz. I don't know what else it could be.

I still think the louvers are a bit too close for it to be a Model 3. It could just be me.

Oh BTW, what's up with that light post twitching like that?

Sure does look like one! But that bottom louver sure does look really far up there though.

It's some sort of processing that compensates for the camera getting shaken around. Look how smooth the movements are, and how the edges are jumping all over the place. My guess is that it would look like he was mid-earthquake without it.

It's Youtube's new anti-shake processing feature. I don't like it on most videos.
