Franklin County Siren Recording

Alright, I know that most of franklin co. Ohio's sirens are WPS-3016 and WPS-4004s and even a few whelen omni alerts (Or wps 3xxx) Although I'm not sure which to record. WHich should i record?

Is the Thunderbolt in Gahanna near Mifflin Cemetary still in service? If so that would make for a good recording.

Well According to google earth is is still right next to the Ghanna Childrens College but since it could be outdated it may have moved or been repl;aced.

I drove by there a few months ago and its been replaced.

We have at least one other dual-toned Whelen somewhere other than the one I recorded. My guess would be that its either the WPS-3016 at Buckeye Middle School on Parsons Ave. or the 3016 at Front St. and Greenlawn Ave.

One siren I've been curious about is the one at Amlin Methodist Church in Dublin, part of Dublin's system. It is very low to the ground, in the middle of their parking lot!

Isnt there a siren somewhere near the Cosi on Washington Blvd? I can't find it...

Dublin's system is 2750s and/or 2805s. If they were Omni-Alerts, they wouldn't have voice capability, and as you may know, Franklin County and the city of Dublin make voice announcements.

I can't confirm it, but I'd be willing to drop money on there not being any active TBolts left in Franklin County. Its solid Whelens now.

I just got a new job in Dublin a little over a month ago and I've gone outside for lunch to see how well I could hear the sirens. The ambiance is kinda cool with all the Whelen Omnis (mainly the 2750 at Coffman High School) but the tests aren't long at all. It's basically live voice, long pause, 5 seconds of alert (all 560hz), long pause, then live voice again.

There's not too many Cold War era sirens left. Champaign County still has a nice collection of T-bolts. Richwood (Union Co) has an Allertronic. Plain City and Unionville Center have STL-10s. Newark has Thunderbeams. And some of the rural townships still have Model 5/7's.

That's about the only ones left.
