I do love how the reporter seems to have been expecting the siren to be much louder than it really was.
They claim the 550 failed during a test. I emailed with the chief of police for Manitou Springs a while back and they said they disconnected it a couple years ago and didn't plan on reconnecting it. It had no power back when I was there last June, so it probably never had any power when they tried to test it. So instead of running power to it, they got a new "siren".
This is coming from a city that
swore on GEOCAST, a reverse 911 system, which happened to fail when they needed it during the Waldo Canyon fire.
