seattle, washington Federal DSA's

Sun Jan 27, 2013 9:58 am

About a year ago, seattle installed several dsa's in the city. The system was working gret but during a recent trip, i found a pole that had a brand new fedsig DSA on it several months ago but the siren was gone. I drove about a half mile down to fire station 5 where another unit was located but it was gone too! Then i went to the ferry dock where the 3rd siren was but it was gone and all that was left was its pole!!! Does anyone know what happened to these sirens??? They were virtually brand new and worked flawlessly!

Seattle also had a few Decots with a Model 5-style screened housing.

I previously lived in the tacoma area several months ago. i do remember seeing a restored christler bell victory siren. it doesnt work acording to DEM, obiously since the rotor shaft is missing, but mabe their are some other old sirens on top of old buildings nobody knows about. i did see an old decot at a fire sataion in washington that was taken from the city after the cold war to be used as a fire siren. The tacoma? puyallup area has an entire system of federal signals mods,2001s, a 3016, and a fedelcode model 5. a long tome ago, there was a 2t22 that nobody seems to remember but is is now gone to my knolage :'( . Gig harbor has a Model 2 near its airport thats used as a general warning siren. (Weather, earthquake, Ect.) Bremerton Nat. Airport had a sth-10 a long tome ago but i cant seem to find it anymore.

There is a sawmill in the Shelton-Olympia area which is using my old GCS Model 2 as a fire alarm.

Maybe they are looking for newer sirens? I don't know.

Those DSAs have been there a lot longer than a year. I knew of only two: one at the fire station on the waterfront, and one a bit further south near the shipping cranes. Where as the third? But yes, they're gone - I never got to hear them, though.

Seattle had TBolts?? Where? Lived here my whole life and I've never seen one. Pre-1980s?

There were something like seven Chryslers here. They are/were:

Phinney Ridge, on tower: cosmetically restored, missing drive shaft

Columbia City, on tower: unknown, I'm looking

Northacres Park, on tower: still there, unrestored

WAC (Washington Athletic Club) downtown: can't see it on satellite view

City Light warehouse: gone

Georgetown Steam Plant: gone (now a museum, I'll try to ask them)

Downtown Police Garage: gone, building razed in the late 80s-early 90s

No clue where the Decots were, save for one in the University District, and that's not there now.
