Little siren 220V 230V and AR Timer ?

Tue Aug 06, 2013 1:00 pm

Hello to all! I have a small siren 220V - 230V grey that I bought on Ebay. I do not know how to connect it has a timer AR. Or needs it to connect the red thread and the black of the siren? Other thing than a timer AR is needed? Thank you for your answer! :D

I can't understand your post for the life of me. You bought a "small" grey siren on ebay? I'm not sure how small we're talking if it takes 220VAC... A siren model number or picture would help a lot.

"Or needs it to connect the red thread and the black of the siren?"

Can't decipher this sentence at all. Red threads? Black of the siren???

"Other thing than a timer AR is needed?"

You don't "need" an AR timer. You need 220VAC electricity.

If the siren is as small as it sounds like it is - hook it up to 220V...and let me know how that works out for you.

In all seriousness, I doubt it takes 220VAC. Of course, I don't know how small you are talking - Model 2 small, or a *really* small handheld siren?

I think it can be assumed that this user is not from the US or uses English as a second language.

With that said, a very small siren with a current draw of an amp or under can actually be ran directly from the AR (I used to do this all the time on my model A and L sirens). Although not technically correct, the AR timer's circuitry can handle the power. It's been a few years since I've wired up an AR timer, but I believe you wire up the siren normally as depicted in the manual except on the "common" terminal. Then "insert" 220VAC by taking one lead of the wire and hooking it to the common terminal on the AR and the other lead to the remaining lead on the siren.

To do it the more correct way, you will need a relay or motor contactor.

The red and black thread are the wires.
