Nigerian 10/12 sirens?

Mon Oct 14, 2013 11:51 pm

I was watching a video of a building demolition in Nigeria and at around 35 seconds in, you can hear a 10/12 port siren going off in attack. Does anyone know about these sirens?

Here's the video:

Sounds a lot like a 5/6 Thunderbolt to me until the wind down. I'm wondering if they have any US sirens.

Maybe it could be a CLM of some sort?

Either that or a Mobil Directo

My guess is that it's a recording played over speakers.

Nigeria was under British colonial rule until 1960—perhaps it's a British siren.

The Siren sounds like its a rotating siren. It sounds to me like a B&N Mobil Directo. It sounds to husky to be a Castle Castings, Gents or Carter sirens from England. They have a clearer tone. Also its pitch is to high be a siren from Britain they are on 50 hertz. This mystery siren sounds like it is running on 60 hertz.

These sirens sound an awful lot like CLMs, however I would doubt that CLMs would make it to Nigeria. I would guess that they are some sort of Chinese siren. Whatever they are, they are definitely running on 60 hertz.
