Changing a model 2 to a model 2t.

Tue Apr 29, 2014 2:29 am

I have both a model 2 and a model 2t. The model 2 is in better shape. I would like to take the motor out of the model 2 into the 2t. Are both units pretty much put together the same way? Does anyone have diagrams available for both units.

Thanks!
Bryant

They are the same sirens just different port ratios on the two.
My knowledge excels on the Federal Thunderbolt siren and SiraTone EOWS sirens. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Mechanically, both are assembled the same way. The only variation would be the early Federal Electric/Enterprises Model 2. They had a sand cast motor frame and stator vs. the later die cast and also different brush holders. As long as they look mechanically identical you should be able to just swap the rotor and stator. If you want to pull the rotors from the motor armatures that is a little bit more of a complex job as the rotors are pressed on to the armature shaft.
