No it is not an active siren. Last it was used was in the early 1990's or late 1980's.

There is also a 2001-SRN about 1 mile away on the other side of the airport.

there are 2 2001's and a mod near midway. the mod is just east of Cicero ave at about 56th st. one 2001 is across from the airport at 55th and Laramie. The other is at 63rd and long.

The Thunderbolt at Midway is not active, but still works. The controls are in the basement of the former fire department.
