3T22A question

Wed Oct 08, 2014 6:49 pm

Hello all

I have a quick questions guys. I have a 3t22a three phase siren. Does it matter which direction the siren motor turns, clockwise or counter clockwise? Which way should it turn? I have mine connected to my 3 phase rotary 20hp phase converter and currently it turns counterclockwise. I just want to make sure its turning in the correct direction.

Thanks guys
Chris

It doesn't really matter on any federal siren; the only siren that I know of that matters is an ACA.

Yeah, the XT22's are bi-directional so it doesn't matter. Go ahead and set the polarity however you please.

XT22's have 10 horns, I think. This makes them omni-directional.

Other sirens, such as 2001's and thunderbolts, have to rotate.

As long as they rotate, and sound in 360 degrees of rotation, they're effective.

So, yes. You can set your rotation phase either way.

XT22's have 10 horns on the bottom and 12 on the top so, it has 22 horns total. Please don't spread false information.

Anyway, like others have said, it does not matter which way the siren turns on Federal sirens. However, on ACA/ASC sirens, it does matter since the rotor vanes are curved in an optimal direction (similar to many water pumps).
