Clemson University Model X

Sun Oct 19, 2014 8:40 pm

Hey everyone! I'm a junior in high school, so my parents are forcing me to visit colleges already. We went to Clemson and Furman yesterday, and they're both amazing schools! So, long story short, I saw a few sirens at Clemson, and after walking around for two hours in the sweltering (to me... Not very heat tolerant :P ) heat, so I had given up on taking pictures and we drove home. However, during the tour, I noticed an old factory-sort of building, and I noticed a Model X (3 or 5) on top of it. Sadly, I didn't have enough time to grab a picture, but I found it on Google Maps. Here it is: https://www.google.com/maps/@34.6795852 ... DIYh_g!2e0

Other than that, I saw the MOD 4016 on Daniel & Sherman and a 2001 at the Clemson Amtrak station. The Modulators and 2001s are tested on the 2nd Wednesday of every quarter at 11:50 AM.

Here's a map of the Clemson system, excluding the Model X and the surrounding Oconee nuclear sirens: http://goo.gl/maps/2O9fw

It seems to be a Model 3. Model 3's louvers are closer together than Model 5's, and they are overall, much shorter sirens than Model 5's.

As noted, it appears to be a Model 3.. never found that one in my time on Google Streetview... as a side note, Clemson and Furman... the kiddies on this board could learn a thing or two from you and your endeavors of going to college. Especially good schools such as those, bravo young man.. bravo! Bravo to your parents also for pushing you in that direction!!

I think that's a 5. Comparing that to the 5T polluting my property, it has a piece of threaded rod coming out of the top, like on mine. The housings look to be the same dimensions too.

It is quite short to be a 5, though. Someone posted a pic of a Model 3 they own somewhere, and it had a rather short housing like this one.
