Florence, AL Siren Hunt 3-25-15

Thu Mar 26, 2015 3:44 am

I went out to Florence, AL today to look at their traffic lights again and siren hunted as well. Here's what I saw.

The first siren I went to was the Sentry 10v2t on Woodard Avenue near the intersection with Patton Street.

The next siren I saw was the ACA Penetrator in downtown Florence:

I then went up to the old ACA Allertor on Mitchell Street. Yes, it does have two disconnects.

I then stopped by the Whelen Vortex (fin back) at the intersection of Helton Drive and Roberson Road.

The last siren I saw in Florence was the Sentry 10v2t on Cox Creek Parkway near the intersection with Darby Drive.

That's all from today! I hope y'all've enjoyed it!

Very nice pics, as always.

I'm curious though, do you know when the sirens in Florence are tested?

Looks like the hippies got to that Allertor.

From what I've heard, it's the first and third Wednesday of every month at noon, weather permitting.

Interesting, I'd really like it if there was a video of that allertor being tested.

I plan on getting a video this summer of it.

I also know that Lauderdale County used to have more Allertors. I remember seeing an article on WHNT's website from several years before I saw it several years ago, and in the article was a picture of an ACA Allertor. They've since removed the article though.
