Nice find! Defenders are far from common.

That Defender was originally in Ames. I believe there's a video of it somewhere.

There was a Defender in Ames, up until around 2008, it was on the corner of R-50 and George Washington Carver Avenue. The one in Slater shows up after the 2008 footage in 2010.

I had found this and the previous location on my earth map somewhere in January. (Actually might have been New Year's night if I remember correctly.) And even among the 3007 that now comprise my map these are the only instances of Defenders that I have found.

Granted, searching now, I find that there are likely 2, maybe 3, more. In any case these things are excruciatingly rare. You could imagine my surprise that night when I couldn't figure out what is was from orbit, and come down and find this delightful thing sitting on a pole.

This area of Iowa actually has a couple of hidden gems in between the models that have been replaced. Including this siren, an ACA Allertronic in Ogden, an ACA Screamer (which isn't' supposed to be rare, but from my experience they're not common) in Maxwell, Darley Champion in Colo, and some older Federal Signal Hardware just scattered about.
