Is John Robison wildely accepted as the inventor of the siren in the siren community?

Usually we don't think of that kind of stuff. We only really involve ourselves with the sirens made about 1900-onward, since those are the "sirens" we are all familiar with today. Kinda like how the car enthusiast community is primarily involved with cars made during and after the Model T era.
