Coincidentally one of my relatives made a distant phone recording of that T-128 today. https://youtube.com/watch?v=1_5yaS0yTgsSuperBanshee wrote:The photo looks good. I would suppose the T-128 went off earlier today, presuming it's already set up for the county system.
I'm guessing it's to make replacements go faster. So Federal has half and ASC has the other half. It's been like this in Dane County for awhile now ever since 2009. But who knows maybe Dane did just go back to just ASC, I don't know. Also it said that the 2001 on S High Point Road sort of by West Towne Mall is relocating across the highway or something. And if I find anymore new replacements this year I will post here about it.Stevan Z wrote:So what's the reason Dane County went with a mix of Federal and American? Wouldn't it be easier just to stick with one brand?
I have heard both sirens. I hate to say this but the 508 is more powerful. federal spent a lot time in the horn design making them so much more effiective compare the the t-128 where they have a major design flaw. they pull in more air then pushing sound out. Dane county just rotates who they go for manufactor. this round was ASC and the next will be federal makes all sides happy.SuperBanshee wrote:Not bad despite being recorded on a cell phone. It gives a good idea how loud the T-128s really are - if there's anything good to be said about the T-128, it's the sound level. In contrast, I've never heard a new 508 in person but it was my understanding that it's about tied with a T-128 in regards to volume.
I would say that T-128's and 508's are about the same. The T-135 ACDC is another story however. But it seems with the coverage maps online that they're going with ASC. Larger cirlces are T-128's, mid sized circles are T-121's, smaller circles are T-112's. I really do see T-112's coming to Madison to replace those that were used as smaller coverage gaps. There may be a few Eclipse 8's and 508's along the way as well. But Dane is most likely sticking with ASC for now.anepstad wrote:I have heard both sirens.
