My New Toy (formerly Tboltfan no longer owns a T-Bolt)

Wed Nov 23, 2016 1:37 pm

I decided to drag up my old username for this post. Ha! ha!

Well, as of today, I no longer own a Thunderbolt. I have had mine for 3 years and after not being able to really work on it all that much within the past year to year and a half due to life (Includes but is not limited to, school, employment, girlfriend, etc.), I decided it would be best to let it go and to a home where I know it will be properly restored and not Cobb County'd like stupid me did due to a lack of knowledge on restoring a siren. Who got this siren? My old friend Christopher did (That's TrainsandSirens1, the guy with the fantastic siren videos) We worked a trade over the course of a couple months, and for my Thunderbolt, with RCM and Siratrol, I am receiving a damaged Model 2 and perhaps a Model D. The 2 is a 1974 dated siren that was removed from Union County, South Carolina. I believe it was once located at the fire station next to Philippi Baptist Church, but I will let christopher chime in on that. I will post pictures of the sirens when I get them, which should be early this afternoon (08:37 EST at the time this post was written)

EDIT: I have been formed that the Model 2 I am getting was originally in service in Lockhart, South Carolina.

Here she is! It's a 1974 production machine. I included a picture of my thunderbolt ready to go live in South Carolina, and a picture of me and Christopher goofing off.

Nice! One interesting thing is that I was supposed to get the brush holders from that dead Model 2. But I didn't buy them because I am buying a Thunderbolt chopper motor to use with my Model 2. Good luck Brendan and Christopher with your new sirens!

Is Christopher giving you one of his model 2's?

Thanks for the good luck wishes Skyler.

Here's a picture of the D. Guess I got too carried away by the two (ba dum tssss "Boo! Get out") and forgot about this little guy. Christopher thinks it's from around WWII.

Nice trade! Would be cool if the 2 gets brought back to life. Also to Christopher, good luck on your Thunderbolt! I bet that foam is gushing from his mouth becuase he owns a lot of small sirens, a Model 2, a 2T, a 1000, and a 2001-130!
In my opinion, I think there way too many 2001's in Indiana!

Here are some more pictures of my Model 2. It appears to be a 2-120. Sorry if the pictures are sideways.

Can someone tell me what size screws or bolts are used to....

1. Hold the stator ring bit to the stator?
2. Hold the intake cone to the stator?

I know I'm bumping my own thread, you can send me to the gallows later. However I attached my old tbolt ID tag to the housing for grins. I know it's not a Model 2 ID tag but I honestly could care less.

There has been talk amongst my household of restoring this guy. I think though if I do restore it I'm only going to paint the housing and call it done. What colour should I repaint it? I am open to opinions!
