So today I had the opportunity to set off the tornado sirens in Archer City. I met with the city manager at the building next to our EMS building. We have three Whelen vortex sirens, one Thunderbolt 1003 on top of our EMS building and a 3t22 on the south side of the town. At noon, I hit the Whelen first and two out of three activated. The one just down the street failed. Then I started to activate the older ones. I hit the alert button on the control panel and red light came on, but no sound. I walked back over to the EMS station to check the control panel on the siren itself. All switches were in the automatic position. I flipped the switches to test mode and it roared to life. The blower being in that little room was loud. Apparently when some electrical workers were rewiring some cable they accidentally disconnected a wire from the one building to the other. Next time I will post a video of it. I had camera issues today.
