Ar and af timers

So a few days ago I got our sireno siren working but the only way we can sound it off is to use the motor start on and off buttons my question is one what is the difference between a ar and af timer and we also want to put a timer on it so it will go off everyday or once a week at a certain time ? Any in put would be great thanks !!!!

The AR and AF timers are basically the same thing, only difference is that the AF has a button for Hi-Lo or "Fire" as it's called. If you use the Hi-Lo button on a siren that isn't a 1003 or 3T22 it would sound off in a fast wail. I posted 2 photos down below of an AR and AF Timer.

O ok thanks it's for a fire department but we only want it for a tornado siren so a ar would work! Do you have any idea or suggestion on how to make it go off at a certain time everyday

Depending on what your budget is, there's a few different options. Intermatic makes digital time clocks that can be used to perform multiple functions a day/week. Say you want to a blast at certain times per day, or once a day, you just program it into the clock and tie the clocks switching circuit to the motor starter start circuit. If you want a timer just to run an alert cycle, Omron and Dayton make relays/timers that work fantastically and at a fairly decent price.

They aren't too special. They just cycle for 5 minutes instead of 3 on the standard AR and AF.

The fire signal on most AF timers was five cycles of attack, but could be ordered in other configurations. I configured mine to sound three cycles of 12 seconds on and 8 seconds off. What’s interesting is that the fire signal has a separate output from the attack and alert signals, so a different siren or horn can be used for fire calls.

Wait so does that mean if I hooked an AF timer up to a 1000 it would do fast wail?
