Federal 2001:DC Graphic in high quality?

Fri May 17, 2019 1:58 pm

Hey everyone,
There is a good possibility I may be getting a 2001 soon to donate to my local community. I found the receipt from Federal signal for our last 2001 (installed in 2017) which included costs for controls, etc. It would cost roughly $9,000 for the siren site without a Control upgrade and around $14,000 with a controller upgrade.

Anyways, that aside, I have a picture of the said graphic I’d like to have made. It’s the FEDERAL 2001: DC graphic that was used on the older model 2001’s. I have attached a picture below of one that I found that was surprisingly not faded.

I am wondering if anyone has a high resolution version of this graphic (ex. .PNG format, etc.), or can direct me to the USPTO sample graphic that was submitted for the trademark for this graphic. I did some initial searching but didn’t come up with anything.

Or can someone direct me to a possible way I can make one or have one made? It would be greatly appreciated. I’ve attached a picture of the graphic below. Thanks!

I could try and make a replica of that tag if you want, but it's not going to be a 1:1 match for the font...

I should also add that my parents are moving to th either side of the state so unless my friend who still will be living here who’s also a siren enthusiast is indeed able to help me on this it’s probably going to end up being no more than a suggestion to Council...if he is going to help though there’s a better possibility of it actually happening, but I’m not real sure yet. But that would be nice if you are able to do that; I am not good with graphic design haha.

Oh it's a fairly simple design, I'm not too fluent in GFX design too but I should be able to make something close enough.

Edit: I'm still skimming through which fonts would look similar enough (as I said, it is not going to be an exact 1:1 match for the font, hopefully it won't matter), possible candidate for now is Arial normal... I'll edit this post as I progress making the GFX.

Also, do you want it transparent or with a solid background?

If you can see, all of the letters look like 3-D Block letters. The flat characters look strange when compared to the real thing.

Even the newest 2001's have a little 3D aspect to them. The Federal Signal is flat but the FS logo and 2001 have shadows. If you can live with a newer sticker, Federal will probably send you some for free. You can just cut off the pars you don't want.

I've already stated that it would not be a 1:1 match, I've done what I could

I know. It's just a bit weird seeing it flat and 2D. Still, it's better than anything I could ever do. also, I don't think anyone would ever notice it. I don't think Non-siren enthusiasts bat an eye to sirens. Heck, when I see a 2001-130, I don't even acknowledge it.

I have an early 2001-DC "roundback" that still has decent original decals on it. If you would like some actual measurements of the decal dimensions or character dimensions let me know.
