Chicago Il, HOR Super Si-Rex

It's July of 1951, on a Sunday morning in the Windy City (Chicago). The normal city sounds are silenced by the deafening roar of an H.O.R SuperSirex on top of the Field Building (it was a test). This siren, along with 4 other Super Sirex's would serve as Chicago's air raid warning system for the cold war. 30 years later (a bit more than 30 years), Chicago's sirens began to malfunction. Sadly, Chicago removed almost all of it's cold war sirens, including the 5 H.O.R super sirex's. But there is one thing that is left. The rotator and tower assembly of the super sirex on top of the Field Building. I myself made it my own mission to get a good picture of it, and my mission has been accomplished. So, more than 60 years later, something that reminds us all of Chicago's tense times is still where it has been since 1951. Here it is. By the way all of Chicago's super sirex's were dual headed single tone and 40 HP

Wish I could buy the rotator and stand. Could use it.

I would have tried too, but its 48 stories high, very very rusted, and it really wouldnt be a good idea to try and make it operational. Plus, the rotator on yours is in WAY better condition.

48 stories, I had no clue. Way to heavy to just go get. Oops.

As far as mine, I am going to wait awhile before digging into it, wiring and powering it up, want to make sure I do it right, new to all this, but the inventors son has been very helpful saying the rotaters were pretty simple in construction and if anything, just needed heavy grease once in awhile. He did say the rotator motors worked hard so this may be why many seemed to not have stood the years as mentioned in above posts. Indeed, no rust on the one I have. It was stored indoors I think, had a layer of dust but otherwise finish still smooth and clean.
