Sirens in Cincinnati?

Thu Jun 07, 2007 12:59 am

Does anyone know what different kinds of sirens can be found in Cincinnati, Ohio? Here's a few I've seen:
Model 5
Thunderbolt
SD-10
Penetrator
STH-10
2001
Possibly Thunderbeam
Any others?
If your siren is a-failin'
Chances are that it's a Whelen
And if it's just about to die
Then it must be an ATI

Some sort of EOWS
and a Sentry 3v8

Those seem pretty consistent, but dont forget the electronic ones.....EOWS 1212's in Ross, but depends if you consider Ross out of Cincy or not...people tend to generalize lots of the suburbs as Cincy.
There's also the unique Colerain Siren.
EDIT: didnt see the EOWS reference from 2t22's list....sorry!

The only Hurricane in the area is sitting at Clayton's shop.

Sucks that I was in Peebles working and missed the noon test, or I would have filmed the Colerain siren.

Is that list online? Never saw it before, I'm just going on what I've seen plus talking to Clayton, who installed most of them.

I have a list of all the sirens in the county, but it is several years old. Send me a PM if anyone would like it (it's a PDF file). I also had a count of each type, but I can't seem to find that file.

I found this map on the EMA website:

I HAD a CD with a picture of EVERY siren and its associated control box in Hamilton County taken by Clayton Werden. I've searched all over for this CD and can't find it since it came unmarked. I have one more spot I'll look here in a few weeks in storage.

Good! Im glad someone else does. its probably with some of my junk in storage, but the CD is unmarked so it might take awhile! The pictures are very good and I vividly remember the only 1003 in the system. BTW, nice picture of Karl in your avatar, haha.
