To me it sort of looks like one of those MS-290/Wolo FA mini sirens. If those holes in the sides are ports, not radio equipment, then that's my guess.
Most likely a former siren location. I'm not too sure what siren would've gone here. Maybe an old ACA siren or Federal Signal? Judging from the yellow control box?
