So I got this awesome Model A-5 for my birthday, and after talking with a few siren historian friends, I was able to determine that this model was manufactured at some point in the 1930's-1940's. (For those who don't know what a Model A-5 is, it is essentially just a Model D with a 5 port chopper rather than an 8 port chopper. Basically, the "STL" version of a Model D.) Things that point to the age of this thing include the "nippleback" motor housing, and the oversized 1/4 HP motor. Not to mention the cast iron chopper this thing is hooked up with. Enjoy this quick three cycle attack I did in my basement for now, but I will have a long distance recording of the siren potentially during one of the upcoming Wednesday tests.
