This is slightly off topic, but one issue i've been having for a while is the search bar hasn't been pulling up posts newer than around September of last year.

Under each user's profile where the 'Applaud' and 'Smite' buttons live, there's a unicode or address, such as 1168.0.0.0.0 visible, not sure if that's something to do with the Karma system or if that's a bug in the newest update.

Karma was a feature of the old board, and an admin brought it back (as an emulator) for old time's sake. Basically, if someone makes a BS post or just something that people don't like, they can smite the post. If someone's karma gets too low, they'll probably be suspended or banned.

It’s a system that works well on platforms like Reddit. Honestly I plan to continue to moderate on a case by case basis. The warning escalation process in the code isn’t going away.

And as in the old days low karma doesn’t mean someone is a poor poster; maybe they don’t post much or had one post that wasn’t well received. So keep an open mind to it.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I strongly dislike the movement of Mystery Sirens into their individual subforum and archiving the old thread. Having an entire subforum just leads to more confusion and posts have the opportunity to get lost in there, and not every mystery siren needs its own individual topic. Having the thread (the way it was since 2006) was a way better design, in my personal opinion, and having posts locked immediately after posting (when there are people that may know the answers) isn't going to accomplish anything either.

I second that. I feel like keeping the thread would have been better, not creating a whole new subforum. There could have been an incorrect post in the old thread, and someone wants to correct that, but they can't because it's locked. And making a whole post about it being something else is kinda stupid when you could have just posted in the original thread.
