Re: Virginia Siren Map

Just found out that University of Virginias siren system or (UVA), Tests there sirens whenever they feel like it. They test at 10:50 AM ET whenever day they test! You can just go to https://uvaemergency.virginia.edu/ and go to the mass notifacation plan, and it will say the next siren test. The next siren test as of 8/21/2022 is on August 30th

Signal: https://uvaemergency.virginia.edu/sirens

They start with voice, saying that they are testing, and then they do a hi-lo signal, concluding with more voice. Then they do an "All Clear Signal" or AirHorn tone on the sirens.

Interesting. I'll see if I can validate a proper test schedule as I don't think I've seen any other university system in-state and even out-of-state ever has an inconsistent test schedule. Either way, thanks! I'll have a look into it.

Here's an update: I just confirmed on Saturday that every siren in Clarke County tests every Saturday @ noon (yes, all...four of them). I went to Berryville that day for the community yard sale, which I was also going to film the STH-10, and was told by a member of the department that they weren't testing that day because of the yard sale because tourists had complained. But, I went to Boyce later that day and a member was very nice and pulled out some of the trucks for me and I asked "Do you guys test your fire siren?" and he said "every Saturday at noon along with the rest of the county."
