Is ACA's Banshee 115 same as Federal Signal's 2t22?

ACA did manufacture a "Super" Banshee 115. Ben Henrichs who used to be a member here had a picture of a few of them from around Wisconsin and they varied in design. He also had pictures of some Soundmasters from Janesville.

In between Madison WI and Rockford IL. Next time if you want to know where a place is, the internet is your friend to find that out. And i don't recall Janesville having any Soundmaster's. There's some in a nearby town called Clinton. And the only Super :banshee: I known of is on Johnson Creek. Thiensville used to have one before being replaced by a T-135 AC/DC

This is a bumped thread but I'll post here for future reference. The Banshee 115 (later re-named Super Banshee) used the same basic setup as Federal's 2T22. The primary differences are relegated to finer details. ACA's Super Banshee was 8-12 port, used a 25 HP Doerr motor, and discs were utilized to project the sound instead of cones.

Janesville, WI originally had a gasoline Mobil Directo mounted on city hall. This siren was withdrawn by 1960.
Around 1970, multiple two signal Soundmaster 115s were installed across the city. They also had an STL-10. All of these sirens are gone, replaced in 2004 by ASC T-128s. Ben Hinrich's Wisconsin Sirens website had many photos of the Soundmasters and T-128s but they are all gone unless someone saved them. I did see one of Janesville's Soundmasters way back in 1999 on a family trip to watch the Wisconsin & Southern circus train. I remember it resembled a UFO when viewed from below.

South of the city near the town of Afton is a leftover Soundmaster 115 from the Janesville batch. Unless it was recently removed, it should still be there.

As for the legitimate ACA Super Banshees, their profile varied considerately in the early years with the first few being nearly identical to the Soundmaster 115. The easiest way to tell them apart is the mounting platform.

Well, not really. For starters, the Banshee is an omnidirectional siren that wears a swag hat, whereas the xT22 is a unidirectional siren with 10 horns on the bottom and 12 on the top. Plus, the Banshee is 9/12 ports and the xT22 is 10/12 ports, so they sound completely different

Actually No.. Xt22 is omnidirectional because it produces sound in a 360 degree pattern. Rotating sirens are unidirectional. Uni means one. A Thunderbolt for instance is a rotating, unidirectional siren.

:3t22: = 360 Degree sound pattern
:TBolt: = Unidirectional sound pattern

Okay. I thought that the :3t22: was still unidirectional because the horns blasted the sound in to different directions, but I guess not.
