Chrysler Air Raid Siren

Wed Jul 04, 2007 1:06 pm

Horns are cut off, but still. Amazing that this guy has one and runs it.

If you listen to the video, the narrator says that the thing sat on the roof of a tall building for ten years, had salt spray on it, and sat in a garage for another ten years. And even without the horns the sound of the thing still drowns out the engine's very loud exhaust.

That's a GREAT video!!! Gave goosebumps :P

I think I'll have to ramp up my efforts to get my paws on that Chrysler sitting derelict on the mountain at Cerro Negro. Definitely the ultimate siren!

Yes, that's a real 500-lb Federal SD-10 I'm holding (braggart!)

I can't believe that he engaged the siren in the garage like that.
I would have ran out the door as soon as I saw him going for that
shift lever.

Reminds me of when I recorded the Essex Flood Siren Test last year, I was exactly the same! Covering my ears, as the air and ground around me shook with sound. But trying to cover your ears and film at the same time isn't easy!

Nice!

I've been waiting for a video with sound of this siren ever since I learned about it! I want one. :D
Nothing but a low-down, double-dealing, backstabbing, larcenous perverted worm!

Big headache with logistics too. :)
Good luck with your ventures to get the Cerro Negro siren!

It's nice to see that this footage of the ol' Chrysler has been immortalised on YouTube.
