Big Elk Meadows VFD

Sat Dec 16, 2023 2:38 am

While looking at fire trucks on Marketplace, I spotted this. I'm not sure if it's a rarer siren or a something else. Big Elk Meadows is southeast of Estes Park, Colorado.

Full shot of Fire Truck attached as well.

Looks sorta like a Fedelcode Model 2 that's covered in snow.

I'm not sure if that is a Fedelcode model 2, the deflectors are way too small and packed together to be so. It could possibly be a modified Fedelcode or any other siren.

The quality of the photo doesnt help, but mentioning the snow could be what was messing with me, making the shroud look off. Maybe next summer a road trip is in order!

I was looking around on google maps, and found another photo of the siren in the summer:

Another picture shows a Whelen 4004/Vortex in the background, so it might be inactive or used for calling in the fire fighters:

That's a Canadian Model 2. Quite literally listed as that in the catalogues.
Nice truck, too...

Also called the Model "2-3Z" on the tags on later models.
