How does the chopper work in a VXS-1000P Siren?

Mon Mar 11, 2024 5:08 pm

I have a Vixen Horns VXS-1000P hand crank siren and I'm so confused as to how the chopper keeps spinning after you stop spinning the crank. If you know please say because I'm totally confused :?
I'm a siren enthusiast but I also collect electric fans

Now I have 8 small sirens, and 47 electric fans :D

I'm not familiar with these sirens. Perhaps it's a freewheel mechanism like what's used on bicycles?

That would make sense because as seen in this image (it is kind of hard to see) there's a mechanism thing in there

Still hoping this image works...

EDIT: why there's 2 of them idk, but there's pictures now... :x

Similar concept of an electric siren continuing to wind down when not powered. Or like a bike freewheel, like what HDN said. Most hand crank sirens do that

Now that I think of it, the bike freewheel thing does make sense. Thanks.

Fair point. And do you own this siren? I’ve always wondered how loud these small hand crank ones are. Is it worthy of headphones?

Yes I own one, and in my opinion, it's loud, but not loud enough to have to use ear protection. I may be wrong, but when I use my siren, I go to the same pitch as a Sentry 10v so not its max output.
