Schaumburg ACA P-50 Came Down Today…

Sat Apr 13, 2024 1:05 am

Through a stroke of unbelievable serendipity, I was in Schaumburg IL for a hi-fi audio convention, and the route from my hotel to the convention video takes me along Remington Road, from which the Tower Rd Schaumburg ACA P-50 can be seen along National Blvd.

This morning as I was headed to the event venue for opening day, I noticed the P-50 was missing and a crane was working on its mast. I detoured over to the siren location and found electricians had lowered the P-50 into a trailer, and were preparing to install a T-135DC into its place. I asked the men if I could take a few pictures and they reluctantly agreed, so I have some of the last photos of the Schaumburg P-50 as it goes to its eventual final resting place.

I do not know where the P-50 is being taken, what will be done with it, whether it is available for purchase, or who to contact - sorry.

The P50 in Schaumburg has seen better days... but sadly sirens don't last forever. But Thats also one good angle of the T-135!
I officially own an ASC E-class as of 2024. I also own 3D printed mini sirens such as a 3T22, Cyclone 125, and Screamer.

I for some reason can't see the images. You may have to upload the images to the post, so they are more likely to be seen!

I went back to the former P-50 site and took these photos of the new T-135 siren:

I like when they mount the new sirens on the old poles. It gives it a little bit of remains from the P50.

It's amazing how far sirens have come in innovation. It takes far less power to run a T-135DC than that old P-50.

I wouldn't mind having a P-50 in my back yard though - I could get a big enough genset to run it =D

It’s an unfortunate loss, but that siren probably needed to go. Now it’s one less P-50 in the world
I own 6 sirens. One horn. 3 Emergency Lights. 16+ radios. 5 Cassette players. 5 CD players. And 15 Wings of Fire books
