Port Aransas CD Siren System

Wed Mar 13, 2024 7:04 pm

Me and ParadiseSirens were hunting in Port Aransas for sirens since I was curious. While ParadiseSirens was hunting, she found a siren looking pole near Port Aransas Reality. She found out it was a EOWS-612.. At the time I was in Port Aransas so the next day I recorded it..

That's sad that it's not there as I like EOWS sirens. I wonder what happened to it.
I'm a siren enthusiast but I also collect electric fans

Now I have 8 small sirens, and 47 electric fans :D

I'm not so sure that was a 612. If you look at the streetview shots at that location, you can see a baseplate progressively rot away over time. It looks like there's a cutout in the center of the baseplate which honestly leads me to believe it was a 2001, because 612s don't have any cutouts in the plate, it's a solid piece of steel. Additionally, 2001s have just a single steel tube extending from the baseplate where the 612 has tons of supports welded together to make up the base. I'd be extremely curious to find out what was there and what happened to it, because the state of that plate means the rest of that head had to be in horrible condition before it fell off the pole.
My knowledge excels on the Federal Thunderbolt siren and SiraTone EOWS sirens. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
