What's the best way to find the activation tone channels for scanners?

Sat Dec 28, 2024 4:02 pm

I just recently got a Uniden radio scanner for christmas, and I wanted to know how to find the channel that the sirens use to be activated by. I don't know if the channel can only be found while the tones are being transmitted, or anything else. If you know the channel for Lansing, please let me know!
Proud owner of a E.A Labs Sireane Jr, a Uniden radio scanner, and a Sure-Lites emergency light!

I'm probably the go-to person to learn about my city's siren history.

You can check radioreference.com and see if they have the frequency listed. It usually would be on a dispatch frequency, or it may actually list the siren frequency. If anyone knows it and would like to share it, then please PM him. I wouldn’t recommend anyone publicly posting siren frequencies these days due to the risk of hacking systems and someone potentially getting into trouble with law enforcement. You can also try to do a scan of police or fire frequencies during the test to see if the scanner captures it. That’s how I found my local system frequency.
