The red and green T-bolt would be at home in North Pole, Alaska :).
Someone can do a black and white spotted (think Gateway Computers back in the day) paint job. Call it "thunderCOW".
I am Thunderbolt. Hear me ROAR!

Go Blue! I would do a royal blue or midnight blue color.
If your siren is a-failin'
Chances are that it's a Whelen
And if it's just about to die
Then it must be an ATI

After talking via E-mail with federal warning systems Greg Alcorn about the factory color used for the thunderbolt, He wrote me back stating................

Question:
What color(s) were the siren available in?
Answer:
Only caterpillar yellow, except a very very few had custom paint. Hawaii
had green.

He also stated they only keep records for 5 years. So he must of asked an "Old timer" about it.

This one is painted brown, the same color of the building it tops.

It is facing the same direction as the shadow.
It's roots blower is inside the mechanical room.

I do think, though, that the Thunderbolt would look killer in grey-purple!

Sweet.
I see the "F" on the rotator box, but what is it supposed to say before it? "FEDERAL"?

And the screen in it just looks like flat bars, or does it have "mesh" screen in it?
If it hasn't been answered yet, then you are correct with your observation. The Thunderbolt in that video does in fact have a simple "tic-tac-toe" style bar configuration, which was only used in very early models before the mesh design proved more effective.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence indicating that you tried.

I bought some Cat Yellow, and School Bus yellow over the weekend.
I painted a scrap piece of metal with white primer. then after it dried, I painted all three colors on it.

The Sunburst Yellow looks too bright next to the schoolbus and caterpillar.
Caterpilliar looks close to the control panel color. School Bus yellow is the color I like the best. The Detroit T-bolt I have will be Sunburst yellow.
The Skoike IL. t-bolt will get painted School Bus yellow next year
Not the best pic, but you can kinda see the differences.
(pic was taken with metal on my tool box at work)
