Poorly Maintained Sirens??

We've all seen our share of them, I was just wondering if you folks have any examples of poorly maintained sirens around your area. It's not uncommon to find the sirens here fairly rusted, especially by the ocean. The extremely high pitched 1000T I filmed has a bunch of holes on the bottom of the horn that you can't see in the video.

However, this one one has to be the worst one I've seen in Hawaii.

So this first pic would be of a Model 2 in Florida. Though there is a number of Model 2s out there without any housing, the condition of this one makes it look pretty sorry.




This is one of the remaining SD-10s in East St. Louis, IL. There are probably more SD-10s that existed at one time than the ones I've found, but I'm sure at least one has fallen and been trashed.



This is Lauderdale-by-the-Sea's old Model 5 fire siren (now replaced by a Whelen 2805 that is no longer used for fire calls) I think when the stator gets rusted through to this point, the efficiency probably loses at least a point or two.




This last one is not necessarily the worst condition siren (the SD-10 above is in worse shape), but the overall cityscape of downtown East St. Louis probably makes this siren deserve to be included in this post.

Does East St. Louis even have a working siren system anymore?

This one is located in Delaware Township(Valley Falls), KS. I don't think it is still in use as the County EM has no records of this siren, i also don't know what it was used for or what model it is, but it doesn't appear as if it was very well taken care of.

Other then that, most sirens around here are pretty well maintained. Shawnee County EM says they do regular maintenance on the county's sirens (Which includes STL-10s, Model 5s, 2t22s, Thunderbolts, Thunderbeams, 2001s, 500ATs and a STH-10.) and there are very few sirens in the county with rust on them.

I guess they think that insted of fixing it, that yellow caution tape will work just as well?

This topic itself is not sad. What is sad is the fact that the officals in these cities dont take enough care of their Outdoor Warning system.

I am just upset with all the useless sirens is all. I have never heard of a FD doing ANY maintanance on a siren, unless they have it restored. Robert and Texas Chad are the acception, because they won't let their unit's rot.
