My dream come true

Tue Jan 22, 2008 2:23 am

I have a friend from Pittsburgh (Rick) who is a firefighter and a siren lover like me (also a lurker on this board), he sent me a recording today of the neighboring fire department's siren (easily my favorite in existence) and I had to share it with all of you. If you listen closely, you can hear the harmonics of that thing bouncing off the hills around it (and making it sound like 2 sirens). See if you can figure out what we are listening to!

I bet it's an Alertronic, since you have such a fetish with them. :P

Geez... that didn't take long LOL. It is indeed a rotating ACA Alertronic 8000 from the George G. McMurtry Fire Department in Vandergrift, Pa in hi-lo mode. That has been my all time favorite siren for as long as I can remember, to have a recording of one in hi-lo mode is great.... but to hear this thing in person is even better... oh the sound..... ohhhh the rotation! LOL

That is what I call a hi-lo signal! If only I can get Sarnia to get their Allertronic 6000s to do this for me! :P
