Tornado Warning Nashville

Wed Feb 06, 2008 3:26 am

Tornado warning has been in effect for a while in Nashville, did get a brief clip of the sirens blowing there on a local news station. The ATI's may be crappy but they are certainly doing there job warning the residents of Nashville/ Davidson Co.

I was wondering about that. Be sure to post the clip here. :)

Edit: Jim Cantore of The Weather Channel just stated a tornado is moving through the Nashville area and urged citizens to take cover before the commercial break. Not sure if it's spotted yet.

Tornado Warning Nashville

Thu Feb 07, 2008 3:24 am

Davidson County went under tornado warning Tuesday evening.

Warning came on TV; I thought I faintly heard the ATI at school in my neighborhood.

When I opened the back door I heard it more clearly(it's about 1/2 mi. away).

It could be heard even better once we got to the basement.

Nashville kept sounding the sirens even after the warning had expired. One of my co-workers lives about 2 blocks from the one in our neighborhood. He told me today that the siren was sounded 4 or 5 times between midnight and 3 AM today.

I think one reason it could be heard so easily last night was the wind..there was pretty good wind blowing towards house from the siren.
There have been some Saturday tests during which I never heard the ATI.

Melvin, did you see the wall cloud coming down on the Batman Building?
Also what kind of siren is on the Vandi Children's Hospital?
The reason I ask is because it sounded like a mod yet it was rotating.

mgear:

I didn't see the wall cloud. I live several miles SE of downtown area.

As for Vanderbilt; there's no siren on the Children's Hospital. There is a 2001 atop Lupton Hall(dorm) which is a few blocks from the hospital. Vandy also has some Modulators. Most of them are single cell. I know there's a 2 cell one atop a building on the former Peabody College campus(now part of Vanderbilt) and 2 or 3 single cell ones around athletic fields, gym, etc.

Maybe "News Channel 5" was wrong because they said it was on the Children's Hospital, so they must have had some wrong information.

Alasiren:
That is exactly what I was talking about and in this link contains some pretty eerie pictures of the gas fire.

The sad thing is, is that I can not find the one by News Channel5.
The reason I want that one is because it was on the sky cam thing showing it come down on it with sound of the sirens and all.

I am about to stir up a lot of mess in Nashville about their crappy siren system. If you look in Video forum I posted a news story about Mid-Tennessee sirens and lack of sirens. It angers that not only has Davidson county chose the cheapest crappiest siren know to man, but in the past five years since they put up the system, they have not added one new siren, but the city/county is growing at a tremendous rate! I have emailed all the media stations in this area, and as well as their awful EMA director and gave him a huge piece of my mind!!
