Best siren system

Mon Aug 07, 2006 6:22 am

I thought i would start a post about the Best Siren system...now there is the Best overall Siren System....the best Eletronic Siren System...Mechanical Siren System...Elertro-Mechanical System and Mixed System....heres my say in all of it.

My vote for the #1 Eletronic Siren system would be Oklahoma City's Whelen system....along with Moores's Modulators.

As for Mechanical Siren System i would say Madison, Wisconsin...i belive they have all mechanical sirens.

As for Electro-Mechanical siren i would say Kansas City, MO and Lawrence, Kansas. They have Exilent 2001 siren systems.

As for mixed system...since i dont really know any cities i would say Topeka, Kansas. We have a wide veriaty of sirens including Thunderbeams, Tbolts, Model 5s, 2t22s, 500ATs, and STL10s along with some 2001s.

For the overall Siren system i would say Milwaukee, WI siren system with all of their T-135s. What do yall think?

What do yall think?

I think that Hamilton County, Ohio's sirens system is excellent. They always go off, but they don't have anything big like T-135's or something. There are pretty many gaps, but the EMA is working to fill those gaps. And, they have STH10s, STL10s, Darley Champions, Thunderbolts, 2001's, Modulators, SD-10's, a wide variety of sirens. So, as a "Best Siren System-In-Progress", I would nominate Hamilton Cty., Ohio. :) :o :D
If your siren is a-failin'
Chances are that it's a Whelen
And if it's just about to die
Then it must be an ATI

Archon wrote:Milwaukee is tops for T-135's The whole county has only 1 electronic siren a ASC allertronic 6000. Followed by Kenosha county which has lots of T-135's in places that there is nothing around (Part of the old Zion N Plant system)
Is that the Zion plant near Waukegan, IL? I think they decommissioned
that one back a few years ago. I found THIS on wikipedia.

I think the best all-mechanical system is Milwaukee's.
Best All Electronic: OKC
Best Electronic and Mechanical: Chicago
best mixed: Madison, WI

For coverage I would say omaha because I have been in literally in all areas of omaha during tests and I can very easily and noticeably hear multiple sirens. The system exists of only T-128's and a few 2001 however in the Boys Town Village they have a 2t22 and 3 more sirens that I haven't seen yet.
Goodbye everybody I will miss this board.

I'm gonna have to agree with you. Best overall in my opinion would be Omaha's system.

This is hard to call without seeing every system out there. Milpitas, CA, has a cluster of 6 WPS 2800-5 within a square mile! They wanted 80 db indoors there at some apartments.

From what i understand a Mechanical Siren is something like a 500AT, Thunderbolt. But a Electro-Mechanical siren is something like a 2001 srn or a T128

No actually there's no difference between mechanical and electro-mechanical. Most people just refer to electro-mechanical sirens simply as mechanical sirens just to shorten it. Both work off the same principal.
