Hope it's not a dead end search...

Hey y'all,

I've come to think that a video of the Hurricane in action must be the
Holy Grail of siren videos........ if anyone could prove me wrong I would
be much obliged. I've seen photos and heard recordings, but that's
all. I know there aren't any in my area to see, not even a dead one
sitting on a forgotten post.

SO if you have an ACA Hurricane video, how's about sharing?

Thanks.

So far, I've only seen two Hurricane videos. Both are on wisconsirens. Look near the bottom of the list. Do be aware that they are about 40-60 mb respectively. If you're on dialup, it will surely take a while.

You know what might really be the Holy Grail? A video of the Hurricane, rotating and doing Attack.
If your siren is a-failin'
Chances are that it's a Whelen
And if it's just about to die
Then it must be an ATI

**Edit

The video is actually posted in the link above. It catches the Hurricane in alert and attack:

Thats gotta be the freakiest attack ive ever heard come out of anything!! I think the long windown, then a fast windup, make it sound danged spooky. The Hurricane is such a rare breed, but very facinating!

You know, that thing when in attack, reminds me alot of a Sentry Defender.

Well, I would say that the rotation is similar but the way the Defender produces it's sound in attack is not. The Defender produces a solid attack sound that doesn't waver in intensity. It's a smooth progression from the high point to the low point and back to high point of the attack cycle.

It is smart for Sentry to produce a siren that stops rotating when the output decreases between the high points of the attack sound. This way, there will be no weak points in the coverage. Everybody within the radius will have the same sound intensity.

Thanks for the help! Unfortunately I do have a dinosaur connection,
so hopefully later after work I can start the download and maybe watch
it after dinner, dishes, laundry, shower, and a little TV......

That video is one of 2 Hurricanes in Darien, Illinois. I saw both
of them on my siren hunt last may. for 130dbc at 100feet, the
one in the video isnt mounted very high, and is right next to many houses.
There is also a brownish one at the Fire Station..

I have pics of both of these sirens.
