Something tells me that allertor is a Mobile Directo


A mobile directo is a belt-driven version of the allertor. It is either rumored or true that the mobile directo also has a non-flared projector

For Hanako: The Allertor that I saw in southern Vancouver was a Mobile Directo, because it had belts. At first, I thought that it was some kind of strange ventilator.

Didn't the early Allertors not have rotators?

From what I've heard all of the Mobile Directos had some form of a rotator mechanism. The one in that pic is an electric Mobil-Directo. I think Memphis, TN has one that is still in service.

RamFett says that Milwaukee's old system had mostly Model 2s, non-rotating Allertors, and Mobile-Directos. By the sound of Mobile-Directo, it sounds like they rotate, but does anybody know any places that still use Allertors before the rotator was added to the design?

I think y'all are under false assumptions. The Allertor/Mobile Direct-o and every other "Allertor" brand siren has always had some kind of rotation mechanism on it. In the majority of situations, it would be silly to have a large siren like that which only pointed one direction.

Perhaps you mean that the Allertors in Milwaukee have broken rotators.
