Three Mile Island Siren Testing Update.....

Thu Feb 12, 2009 2:34 am

Wasn't so sure if any members here lived in the TMI emergency planning zone (I know one or two members used to) and I haven't been on the forum in some time now.

I seem to have found out that the counties in the EPZ do monthly testing, on the first Thursday of every month, at 8:00 AM for a very brief growl. The first Thursday of October, I sat in my car in a parking lot waiting for someone, when the P-10 just across the highway from me growled for about five seconds.

Since then, I've noticed that after the first Thursday of each month, all the rotating sirens (P-10s and 2001s) are all facing in different directions. In all my years of living in the EPZ I've never even noticed it, but, the test wasn't long at all, and at 8:00 AM I was either at work or in school.

For annual testing, going back, each of the tests in the recent years have always been on the last Thursday of June.

Anyone else familiar with this? And ohh yeah, who here lives near TMI?
