Question about EOWS control boxes

Sat Apr 04, 2009 1:41 am

Do any of the boxes shown here contain batteries?

This 1212 is one of those green sirens on this map(below), and I'm making sure this map is correct, because it says the green sirens are voice sirens with backup.

Really any electronic siren currently made or made in the 80s runs on DC power. They use the local utilities to charge the batteries, but it mainly runs from the DC. The bottom box is what contains the batteries.

Some of those 1212s are being replaced...

I'll go shoot off an email to the Ross fire chief for more info, but knowing Butler County, they might get replaced with 2001s :(

Replaced with 2001's? That would be worse than getting hit by a cement truck (just kidding)

Well they are just replacing the damaged sirens, better few than all ;)

Come on, 2001's aren't all that bad..what matters is that they serve their purpose. At least they didn't choose ATI (so I hope not  ).

We don't know what they were replaced with yet - the article doesn't give any info about the new sirens and I haven't had a chance to drive up there yet. I just sent an email to Ross' fire chief asking about them, and will let you know what he says.

Siren Replacement

Mon Apr 06, 2009 2:34 am

I have installed 3 T-128 and are up and running. They are at:
1500 Black
3981 Mikehill
2650 Layhigh

The old sirens are coming down next week if the weather is good as a crane needs to get on the grass. The siren at Fernald north at 126 in the woods will also come down however I will have to do it by hand with scaffolding (what fun)
