Question about New york Sirens?

Mon Apr 27, 2009 1:52 am

Hi, next weekend im planning a weekend trip to New York State around the Buffalo/Niagara falls area, Maybe a bit more. (Im coming from the Canadian side into New York). So just wondering if anyone knows of any sirens around there or if there are any? Maybe an old firestation or a city hall? Can use all the help! Or just New York Sirens in general that could help me.
Many Thanks, Mark

you will have the best luck if you look around fire stations, I don't know of any other siren systems in that part of the world.

I have family in the Buffalo area, and here's what I know of:

West Seneca:
Fedelcode Model 5 behind fire station on Berg Rd near Orchard Park Rd
Fedelcode Model 2 on Orchard Park Rd north of Fisher Rd
STL-10 at corner of Union Rd & Main St
Model 2 at Fire Station on Union Rd north of Clinton St
Model 2 at gas station at corner of Clinton St & Northwood Ave
STL-10 on Clinton St east of Pearl St

Lancaster:
4 red horns somewhere on the east side of Transit Rd
Resident of a county with big a mixture of sirens, but in the process of being replaced. :(

Do you know if there still working? They dont really get bad weather that would need a siren, but you never know.

They are used to call the volunteer fire fighters over to the fire station. Yes, they work. I believe these particular ones also sound at noon.
